Qualified Dividends

Those dividends for which the issuing company has already paid a certain amount of taxes. You will therefore be taxed for these dividends at a lower rate. These are normally shown in box 1b of your 1099-DIV, barring some exceptions where items reported in box 1b are not qualified dividends.
